Empower Your Employees to Give Back this Holiday Season

With news of layoffs and a forthcoming recession swirling in the media, it seems irresponsible to plan a holiday party this year — unless, of course, you're partying with a purpose.

Since our inception, Give To Get has worked with our clients to ensure that we are meeting the moment. We've helped clients tailor responses to the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and natural disasters. We have also helped them navigate company-wide changes, too.

Our projects team, the individuals who plan and host the employee volunteer events that we're best known for, are experts in working hand-in-hand with internal teams to understand the void a company needs its employee volunteer events to fill, especially around the holiday season.

For example, in 2018, Box decided that it wanted to forgo its usual day-long holiday party featuring bands and high-end food and beverage options to spend the time giving back. The company had long espoused cultural values related to service to others, but realized that it could be doing more to "walk the talk" — especially given the homelessness crisis in the neighborhoods surrounding its office.

Our team developed a day-long carnival of giving to expose employees to local nonprofit partners, highlight ongoing volunteer opportunities, and provide an opportunity to complete hands-on volunteering programs to support their neighbors.

In 2020, we saw a larger shift. Companies reported that their employees who had been fortunate enough to avoid pandemic-related layoffs didn't feel comfortable toasting the end of the year with another virtual happy hour. They wanted a way to help others instead.

To assist our clients facing this predicament, we built a wide range of holiday-specific At-Home kits that empowered employees to decorate and fill stockings for youth, make care packages for seniors, and provide for those experiencing homelessness. We are pleased to announce that we will be expanding our offerings in this area in 2022.
