Not Cancelled: Social Impact

With the most recent updates surrounding the coronavirus, we are facing many unknowns. Many industries, especially the meeting and event space, are facing hurdles as cancellations and postponements become more common. As conferences are canceled, however, local markets are suffering, too.

SXSW, which was canceled last week, usually brings in more than $350M to Austin, according to KVUE. The hospitality industry — and the gig workers that it employs — are among those who will be hardest hit. Many nonprofits, which often benefit from social impact programs at the events, will be impacted as well.

"I'm sure that at least 2-3% of the $350M revenue generated by SXSW (or ~$10M) finds its way into corporate donations to important causes," Richard Anthony Tagle, CEO of the Andy Roddick Foundation, said on LinkedIn. "The Andy Roddick Foundation, for example, holds fundraising events during SXSW when our donors bring other potential donors and contributors to our cause."
In addition to donations, local nonprofits may be impacted through in-kind donations. Many conferences are beginning to incorporate more social impact programs. We've helped meeting attendees assemble different kits and furniture, make blankets, and more. Those items, which are donated to local nonprofit partners, are no longer being created.

The coronavirus doesn't have to derail your local corporate social responsibility initiatives, though. Give To Get has numerous options for those who would like to continue to give back in the coming weeks.

Give To Get can bring social impact programs to your office that will benefit numerous local causes. This is a great solution for teams that were planning to attend a conference that is now in an online-only format. If your team is still meeting at your office, teammates can view the conference's live stream and use breaks in programming to benefit a local organization through a hands-on activity hosted by one of our social impact program managers. We also offer a "social impact in a box" solution.

During both engagements, our social impact program managers will assist you in selecting the type of nonprofit that you'd like to work with, pair you with a local organization from our database, and assist you in choosing the types of activities that you and your colleagues would like to complete.

If you choose to host an onsite event at your office, our team will source the supplies that you'll need for each activity locally and deliver them to you in time for the event. All set up, clean up, and donation delivery to the nonprofit is handled by our team.

If you choose our "social impact in a box" solution, all of the needed project supplies and instructions on how to complete each task will be shipped directly to you. Your team can then choose how to distribute the projects to those within your organization to complete around their schedule — regardless of whether they're still coming into the office regularly.

The recent changes facing our world do not have to change our ability to serve others and give back to our communities.
