Party with a Purpose (Virtually!) this Holiday Season

This year’s holiday season will look much different than in the past, especially if you usually look forward to your office party. Many employees may still be working remotely and not feel safe spending time with their colleagues in close quarters.

How can companies celebrate in a way that employees find meaningful given the amount of loss the country has experienced this year? Consider an At-Home Volunteer Program for your employees and their families.

Over the past 25 years, we’ve helped numerous companies define, develop, and deploy social impact strategies that resonate with their internal and external stakeholders, including turning corporate parties into volunteer initiatives. In 2018, we transformed the Box holiday party from a high-end affair into a day of giving.

“People were skeptical at the beginning,” said Christina Louie Dyer, Box.org’s Senior Manager of Global Programs. “Now it’s one of their favorite days of the year.”

Our At-Home Volunteer Programs allow employees to assist various causes and vetted nonprofits, including those fighting homelessness, creating educational opportunities for kids, supporting seniors, supporting military members, comforting hospitalized children, and more!

Although we have a large database of nonprofit partners that we work with from around the globe, we can also work with your existing nonprofit partners to determine which types of donations they may benefit from receiving.

To ensure that your employees have a safe, fun experience, all supplies needed to make donations will be packaged in our Denver warehouse. They will then be sent directly to volunteers’ homes.

On the day of the event, a Give To Get project leader and nonprofit representative will join your team for a virtual video conference to provide a nonprofit overview, explain the importance of the donations to the nonprofit’s clientele, and walk your volunteers through the activity. We encourage volunteers to keep their video on after the presentation to chat and enjoy each other’s company - especially this time of year!

Once the tasks are complete, volunteers will be able to repack the box that their donations came in and mail them to the nonprofit partner with the pre-paid shipping label.
